Our story
Rooted in Olhão's past, shaped by an African twist.
Built Inside Its Own History
Right on Olhão's waterfront, directly across from the historic municipal markets, N24 Tapas occupies a space woven into the food history of the Algarve.
The building sits where Roman, Muslim and Portuguese traditions of fishing and salting once met, at a time when this stretch of the Algarve lived and breathed the salt trade. Inside, the walls still carry that history, packed with salt and framed by stone arches that once formed part of the old salting warehouses.
Those same arches now run the length of our bar and ground floor, holding tapas and cocktails instead of salted fish. It is a rare thing, a restaurant built quite literally inside its own history, where every wall has a story older than the menu.
One Instinct, Many Influences
Owner Bart brings together things that do not usually meet, and somehow, here, they do.
N24 takes its cues from Bart’s own path, shaped by Cape Verdean flavours, an international tapas format, and years spent behind bars in London and New York. That mix shows up everywhere, from the spice in a dish to the balance in a cocktail.
It would be easy for a combination like this to feel scattered, but at N24 it settles into something coherent, a single instinct running through the kitchen, the bar, and the rooftop above them.
Tapas & Cocktails With an African Twist - Bart
Three Floors, One View
From the salt-packed ground floor to the rooftop lounge, every level has its own rhythm.
Above the ground floor, a three-tier rooftop opens up, with dining and cocktails set against a direct view over the historic market and the street below. Each level shifts the mood slightly, from the buzz of the lower terrace to the calmer air higher up.
At the very top, a softer seating area waits for slower nights, the kind meant for lingering. Whether it is a date, a dinner party, live music, or a late cocktail under the Algarve sky, the space adjusts itself to whoever is in it.
